An engineer making baked goods? Domenique Mastronardi has always been passionate about health and fitness, so when she was presented with a school project to make a healthy, sustainable food, she went all-in. Dom developed high-protein waffles using ingredients commonly found in her kitchen pantry. So, in what started as a third-year engineering project, turned into a food business: The Happy Era, a brand that creates delicious, high-protein waffles.
For Dom, her passion for food didn’t just come from the challenge for the project. A self-proclaimed foodie, she wanted to channel her goals to help others feel better through health and nutrition. Noticing the market for convenience breakfast foods was dominated by protein bars, Dom saw an opportunity to create something easy to enjoy on-the-go, with fibre, healthy fats, and 7 grams of protein to keep you feeling full, and without a sugar crash.
Today The Happy Era waffles come in a range of flavours like: Maple, Cinnamon, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, and Pumpkin Spice. And the name The Happy Era? Dom says it comes from when you feel good because you’re taking care of yourself, you know you’re happier, more productive, and ready to take on the world!
